Mexican food in Kaunas
What to order at Agave the first time
Agave is a Mexican restaurant in Kaunas Old Town, on the Town Hall Square (Rotušės a. 3), open since 15 October 2014. Chef Rodrigo comes from Veracruz, the kitchen is open, and tacos are served on soft corn tortillas. English and Spanish are spoken.
Dishes worth trying
- Tacos Yucatecos (4 pcs) – pork marinated overnight, 15.5 €.
- Tacos de Pulpo – octopus in guajillo adobo sauce.
- Quesadilla, nachos, guacamole with corn tortilla chips.
- Fajita Provocativa with beef, prawns, chicken or vegetables.
- Seafood – Pescado Jarocho, camarones, scallops.
The full menu is here (dish names are in Spanish). There is no separate lunch menu: from 12.00 we cook everything on the menu. Most dishes are ready quickly; Pescado Jarocho, Pollo Borracho and Alambre take about 20 minutes.
You choose the heat
Sauces come in separate small bowls, so everyone adds as much as they like. For some dishes you can also choose the spice level when ordering: mild, medium or hot.
Vegetarian
Quesadilla with cactus, nachos with cheese, guacamole, Chili Vegetal and vegetable fajita. We can also make cactus tacos for vegetarians – just ask your waiter.
Chef’s specials
When we get especially fresh produce, Rodrigo cooks dishes that are not on the main menu, such as whole Dorado fish, lamb, tuna, oysters, beef tongue tacos or dry-aged beef steak. Ask your waiter what the chef is cooking today.
When to come
Tuesday–Thursday 12.00–22.00, Friday–Saturday 12.00–24.00, Sunday 12.00–20.00, closed on Mondays. The kitchen closes an hour earlier. Tables are easiest to find in the afternoon.
